Vinyl chosen by the numbers

Vinyl chosen by the numbers

A diner booth lives or dies by its vinyl. We spec covers by abrasion rating (double rubs), cold crack temperature, stain and bleach-cleanability, not by swatch color alone. That is the difference between a booth that still shines after five years of milkshakes and one that cracks along the front roll by its first winter.

The horseshoe, done properly
02

The horseshoe, done properly

The horseshoe booth is the most recognizable seat in an American diner, and the hardest to build well. Channels have to follow the curve without wrinkling, the trim must run in one unbroken line, and the end panels have to survive a decade of hips and handbags. We draw each one to your bay.

Tables with a real edge
03

Tables with a real edge

Diner tables take more knocks than any other surface in the room. We build tops with wrapped wood, stainless or ribbed aluminum edges, high-pressure laminate or stone faces and steel bases sized for booth knees. Patterns, from boomerang to marble-look, are matched to your color scheme.

04How it works
  1. 1

    Tell us the concept

Floor plan, seat count, color story and the era you are chasing, from 1950s chrome diner to 1960s coffee shop. Photos and mood boards help. We reply with questions, not a catalog.

  2. 2

    Layout and quote

We propose booth lengths, table sizes and aisle widths for your space, then quote item by item with lead time and freight terms (FOB, CIF or DDP).

  3. 3

    Drawings and vinyl samples

Every booth, table and chair gets a dimensioned shop drawing. We send vinyl, trim and laminate samples with them, so colors are approved in your own lighting.

  4. 4

    Sample and build

A pre-production sample booth or table is available on request. Production follows at our Foshan base, typically 30-45 days for standard designs and 45-60 days for custom work after approval.

  5. 5

    Ship and install

Booths ship in sections, wrapped and corner-protected, labeled to your floor plan. Your contractor installs; we provide fixing details for wall-mounted and floor-anchored pieces.

07FAQ
What are standard diner booth dimensions?

A typical diner booth has an 18 in (46 cm) seat height, a 22-24 in (56-61 cm) overall depth for a single booth and 44-48 in (112-122 cm) for a back-to-back double, and a 36-42 in (91-107 cm) back. Allow about 24 in (61 cm) of seat length per guest. A four-guest bay of two single booths and a 30 in table runs about 70-72 in (178-183 cm) wall to wall.

What vinyl should a diner booth use?

A contract-grade vinyl with a published abrasion rating well above the 15,000 double rubs often quoted as the contract minimum (many diner vinyls rate 100,000 or more), a cold crack rating suited to your climate, stain and bleach-cleanability guidance from the maker, and foam and cover specified to CAL TB 117-2013. We send samples with the shop drawings.

Do you use real chrome?

Trim is specified per project. Many of our renders show brass-tone caps; for a classic diner we can supply chrome-plated or polished stainless caps and table edges, or a ribbed aluminum edge on tables. Tell us the look and we confirm the material and finish on the drawing.

Can you match a specific vintage color?

Usually yes. Send a photo or physical sample and we source the closest contract vinyl, then send cuttings for approval in your own lighting. You can also supply your own vinyl or leather (COM/COL), as long as it is suitable for commercial upholstery.

Are your booths fire-rated?

We specify fire-retardant foams and contract-grade covers to your market's rules on request, for example CAL TB 117-2013, the California smolder standard for upholstered furniture. Test reports for specific items are supplied where available. Your local fire code may require more in some occupancies, so confirm with your fire official.

How are booths installed?

Booths arrive in sections with fixing details. Wall booths are usually fixed to the wall or to each other; doubles stand free or are anchored to the floor. Your contractor installs them following our drawings, typically in a day or two for a small diner.
